Mr. James West

Dear Wolf Pack Family,

It is with great pleasure and enthusiasm that I introduce myself as the new principal of West Preparatory Academy for the 2018 – 2019 academic year. I am extremely humbled to be a member of this great community and family. I look forward to leading West Prep to become a positive force and impact on every students’ performance and school experiences providing academic and social programs.

I was born and raised on Cleveland’s eastside, where I attended and graduated from Martin Luther King Jr./Law and Public Service Magnet High School. I deepened my passion for education at Hiram College where I received my B.A. in Education and immediately relocated to Newport News, Virginia. It is in Virginia where I spent 20+ years learning and improving my talents as a teacher. It was during my time in Virginia that I extended my studies at The Old Dominion University earning my Master’s in Educational Leadership and Supervision. More importantly, it was also during these years that I learned the value of community as a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Incorporated and middle school teacher at Huntington Middle School.

The value of community involvement, especially at an elementary level, is unmeasurable. It is my vision for West Preparatory Academy to be actively involved in our students’ development and preparation for high school and beyond. We invite our parents and community members to become a part of the great and awesome things that are going on at West Preparatory Academy.
